At Evernorth, we believe in the power of adaptively reusing community assets to stretch the potential of investment dollars and enrich communities. A perfect example is the newly renovated Millbrook Estates in Westbrook, Maine, where 100 apartments have been transformed into more modern and comfortable homes for seniors. We are proud to have invested in these homes, along with many other similar homes across Maine.
“Everything’s new,” said JoAnn Sparks, a resident of Millbrook Estates, at the grand opening event. “I like it because it’s quiet here. I feel safe here. I love the people. I’ve met some great people here.”
The renovation project, which fully modernized the apartments while preserving the original structure, posed a challenge since the work took place while residents remained mostly on-site. Despite this, the transformation has been a success, and it stands as a model for future developments.
Encouraged by the success of Millbrook Estates, Westbrook Housing has laid plans for 72 new apartments on adjacent land. Next month, they will unveil the new Stroudwater Apartments on Stroudwater Street in Westbrook, which Evernorth is also an investor in.
