Evernorth is excited to announce that Sherrin Vail, Vice President of Asset Management and Portfolio Initiatives, was awarded the Susan E. Simpson Award by the Maine Real Estate Manager’s Association (MREMA). This award recognizes industry professionals who contribute to the benefit of humanity beyond the responsibilities and expectations of their careers through education, leadership, and support. The award, which was presented at the organization’s annual meeting in Newry Maine, is not given every year.
As a senior executive for Evernorth, a non-profit serving Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont through affordable housing and community investments, Vail has more than two decades of leadership in property, asset, and portfolio management on behalf of affordable housing communities. Her career has been dedicated to creating meaningful opportunities for and enhancing the lives of the people who live and work in affordable housing, including as Director of Property Management at Avesta Housing and Branch Executive Director at the Portland YMCA. She also served as MREMA President from 2014 – 2022.
Andrew Altmaier, President of the Board of Directors of MREMA, says, “Sherrin’s leadership, mentorship, and unwavering commitment to affordable housing have made a lasting impact on our industry and our communities.”
Sherrin has also been instrumental in guiding Evernorth’s long-term asset strategies across Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont. A dedicated volunteer and industry advocate, she has chaired or served on multiple boards and policy committees, including the Maine Affordable Housing Coalition (MAHC), MREMA, ProsperityME, and Consortium of Housing Asset Management (CHAM). Known for her collaborative leadership and deep commitment to community, Sherrin continues to build opportunities through housing that strengthens lives and local economies.
“We are proud to see Sherrin receive this honor. As an Evernorth executive, Sherrin leads with insight, compassion, and curiosity. We’re grateful that others recognize Sherrin’s contributions and community engagement; she is not a by-stander.” says Nancy Owens, Evernorth President. “Sherrin’s efforts and influence extend beyond our organization and our footprint in Maine, Vermont, and New Hampshire to touch on national networks, relationships and advocacy. She truly deserves this honor.”
